The mandate of the EUCE is to increase understanding of Europe and promote the study of the European Union in Montreal, Quebec and Canada. To achieve these objectives, the EUCE focuses on four types of activities: research; teaching; specialised training; and outreach/networking activities.

The EUCE is supported by the European Commission as are four similar centres established elsewhere in Canada.
